Impractical Jokers is a reality/prank television series which usually premiered on truTV on December 15, 2011. It follows the four members from the comedy troupe The Tenderloins as they coerce one another directly into doing public pranks while being filmed by invisible cameras. The show differs through other prank television programs because the stars of Impractical Jokers have no idea the details of the prank before the moment they are undertaking it on strangers. While one cast-member performs the prank, the other three comedians within the troupe are behind the particular scenes feeding lines with their friend via a mike. The lines fed to the prankster are meant to create a humorous or awkward exchange relating to the prankster and the new person being pranked.
The cast of Not practical Jokers has been friends together since high school. Their live improv humourous troupe, The Tenderloins, was formed in 1999. However, their television debut taken place only recently. In 2008 they shot a pilot episode for any scripted sitcom meant to become broadcast by SpikeTV, but the show dropped through. TruTV announced the sequence Impractical Jokers on 04 12, 2011, 8 months before the show’s debut. one of the show’s stars, James Murray, explained how the concealed camera format made sense determined by their skills. “We needed to find the right format… thing is, we’ve been doing this for years, but when it’s about camera, the embarrassment is amplified. ”
Before every challenge, the four comedians outline the guidelines of the challenge. Challenges are often simply for one member to declare whatever line is fed to him, although some challenges include more advanced rules such as properly convincing a random stranger to express or do a certain thing. After the challenge is made, each member of the troupe requires a turn performing the challenge while the other three members watch and listen with a hidden camera and mic for the cast-member performing the nuisance. The location in that the challenge takes place is usually a public area such as a city park or any boardwalk. Although the criteria of each one challenge is the same for all of the four comedians, the outcome is often completely different depending on what lines are fed in their eyes from the others.
Throughout each episode, a tally is stored for each time on the list of comedians fails at their task. After roughly four difficulties, a loser is determined depending on number of challenges unsuccessful. The loser is instructed to complete a short task by the end of the episode which can be often more embarrassing versus previous four challenges.
