Gossip Girl casts have been making noise because of their risqué roles in the show. The content in itself is already a sure fire element that got everyone hooked on the teen drama. Moreover, the racy ad campaign that CW released for GG’s second season exponentially increased its ratings and propelled the stars’ career. Adding to this colossal controversies are the rumors surrounding Gossip Girl cast members off screen.
Blake Lively and Penn Badgley’s Steamy Photos in Mexico
Their chemistry in the show is intense. It was never a surprise then when rumors about an off screen love affair between the two young stars came out. Bladgley finally confirmed rumors when US Magazine published paparazzi photos of their escapade in Mexico. The images showed them kissing and making out in a resort in the said place.
Ed Westwick’s Snog with Drew Barrymore
Ed Westwick and Drew Barrymore were spotted sucking faces in a bar. Rumors about Westwick being Barrymore’s newest boy toy spread like wild fire. However, it was alleged that the two faked the snog upon seeing the camera. They said that it was just a trick to fool the paparazzis, and that there is definitely nothing going on between the them aside from being friends.

Ed Westwick is the target of lots of scandals these days, and this time, it’s with no less than co-star, Chace Crawford. Alleged gay relationship between the two leaked the same time their photobucket photos were illegally released in the internet. The photos showed the two actors driniking and frolicking around with friends. Some pictures of the two featured them with arms around each other with their bare-chest. What added to the fire is the fact that Crawford and Westwick live in one pad.
The two actors just laughed about the rumor and denied all allegations.
Chace Crawford’s Ladies
Chace has been rumored with some of the most beautiful girls in the industry starting off with Carrie Underwood. The young country diva apparently did not only grab an Idol, but a Gossip boy, as well. However, the relationship did not last long as Carrie Underwood confirmed the break up saying, “The break up is done, and we are both happy, now”.
Other actresses have been linked with this hunk including two of his co-stars, Michelle Trachtenberg and Taylor Momsen.
Taylor Momsen
Her rail-thin appearance made her an instant target of anorexia controversies. Momsen, however, denied the rumors. “I am naturally thin…and I am tall. Good genes,” replied the 15-year old star.
Her recent hospitalization scare also compounded the rumors of an eating disorder and cocaine addiction. Momsen’s camp defended the young actress by releasing an official statement saying that the hospitalization was due to a life-threatening throat infection, and anorexia has nothing to do with it.

Bad publicity is still publicity. No matter how jarring or shallow these rumors are, Gossip Girl has never wavered in rigging in more viewers. In fact, these are probably the reasons why the show is still way up in the ratings scale. Amidst all headline-making controversies, Gossip Girl casts still continue to rule primetime TV toppling the towers of other teen-oriented soaps.

Gossip Girl’s very own Chace Crawford is one lucky man as he got to lip service some of the fine ladies in the cast. However, it turns out that the 22-year-old actor has someone else in mind when asked who he thinks should his character end up with.
“I’m thinking Lily van der Woodsen,” Crawford joked in an interview with Fuse TV’s The Sauce. Lily is the mother of the show’s lead female character, Selena, played by Blake Lively. “I’m eyeballing that. That would be great. I’m thinking that — the older woman.”
Chace Crawford plays Nate Archibald in The CW’s Gossip Girl. Nate is a teen heartthrob involved with Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) in an on-again-off-again relationship, but secretly harbors feelings for Serena. He has made some bad decisions along the way, but “has a little bit of a moral backbone.”
Crawford added, “It’s good to play that. He’s so conflicted.”
However, when Crawford received Gossip Girl, he did not pay too much attention to it, as he thought is was just “typical teen stuff” upon reading the script. However, as soon as production started and the ensemble cast was formed, Crawford was immediately drawn to the depth of the show, and how it has been slowly and surely growing a steady fan base. Moreover, he seemed to enjoy the bond he shares with fellow cast members.
Gossip Girl is Chace Crawford’s first television series, but he has previously worked on films Loaded and The Covenant. He will soon be appearing in an independent horror/thriller film entitled She Lived, with Haley Bennett of Music & Lyrics.
“It was really fun,” Crawford said in talking about the film. “Haley Bennett plays this sort of psychologically disturbed [character]. She thinks she’s thinks she’s schizo, but it turns out her parents sold her soul to the devil. It’s like a cultish-type thing.”
Crawford admits that thought he has not been into television productions much, he still enjoys film better, and plans to pursue this in the future.
“Television feels a little bit restrictive, so far as the dialogue, and there’s really no improv. The scenes are a little bit shorter,” Crawford said. “So, films are kind of where my head’s at… in the future. I love the show though, hopefully that lasts.”

For a time, she lived with her relatives until her mom was given pardon. Despite these, Leighton has maintained a very positive outlook about her parentsâ past saying that she has no hatred towards what her parents did. Staying true to the saying, âlet bygones be bygonesâ, Leighton never allowed this stumble to stop her from reaching her dreams.

In 2002, he starred in Do Over and played Joel Larsen, a 34-year old man who gets a second shot to straighten his life through a weird accident that brings him back to 1980 as a 14-year-old. He also appeared in another show, Drive Through, with his future Gossip castmate, Leighton Meester.
Badgley also appeared in movies like John Tucker Must Die and is soon to star in the remake of The Stepfather.
Chace Crawford
Chace Crawford began acting as a hobby while he was attending Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. Shortly after, he landed a role in the hit film, The Covenant before bagging the role of Nate Archibald in Gossip Girl.

The PC buffered for a bit, making the eager girls wait. They all gulped when the video started playing and the One True Media role went on. Then, the actual piece started playing. First came some text slides. ‘Are Our Jonas Brothers In Love?’ It said, ‘Teen Gossip announced that the Jonas Brothers were seen at Sushi Spot on a Friday night after their concert.’ A picture of the dinner scene zoomed in on the screen, and more text slides came. ‘Who are these girls?? We want to know!! But all the Brothers say is “We’re Just Friends…” Like that’s ever possible to happen when you know JB! Got Teens?

As I peered over my niece’s shoulder to catch a glimpse of the book she can’t part with, I read, “Blair Waldorf reached under the tablecloth and squeezed Nate’s knee. The candlelight was making her horny. If only Daddy knew what we’re planning to do after this, she thought giddily” ( you know you love me, Cecily von Ziegesar ). Suddenly, my palms became sweaty, my throat clenched, and that familiar voice yells from the caverns of my soul, “DON’T BE YOUR MOTHER, DON’T BE YOUR MOTHER!”.
Age 11, I reach for a new book placed high on my mother’s bookshelf, Are You There, God?, It’s Me, Margaret (Judy Blume). A reluctant reader, the title peeked my interest. As I opened the title page, I heard the “You should be ashamed voice” bellow from my mother. “PUT THAT BOOK DOWN!”ricocheted off the walls of the room sucking the air from my lungs and making my shoulders tighten with fear. Embarrassed, I dropped the book, and shuffled to my bedroom. We never spoke about the incident again.
The dilemma. To let them read or not let them read. To be my mother or not to be my mother. Parents monitor their teenager’s television programs, internet use, friendships, and activities but what about their books? Most parents rejoice to see their 13-year-old daughter engrossed in a book instead of causing trouble with friends or sitting in a backseat with her boyfriend. I found the book in the teen section, and it is on the best seller’s list. It must be ok, right? But is it?
Many of us have seen the recent stories. Reporters taking inventory of all the mature issues wrapped in pretty plaid book jackets marketed for your teen’s pleasure. Anchormen warning us of the dangerous subjects hidden in these books. Series such as The Clique, Gossip Girl, and A-List receiving a great deal of negative press. If I listen to the media and blame the Gossip Girl Series and the Pretty Committee ( from the Clique series) for teen pregnancy, materialism, drug use, and oh yes – everything else that is wrong with adolescence today, am I becoming my mother? The one who bans the books, who never has those important conversations, or am I being a responsible parent? To this day, I have yet to read that Judy Blume novel. Just mentioning the title fills me with dread and guilt for disappointing my mother with my curiosity.
Here’s a new idea, instead of telling our daughters to drop the book and back-away with hands raised, let’s embrace the activities that fill our teenager’s life as opportunities to establish trust and respect. First, celebrate that our children choose to read in their spare time. Go ahead, pat yourself on the back! In a world plagued with illiteracy, give your child and their teachers a nod for taking steps towards extinguishing this epidemic. It may not be Chaucer, but it is a step in the right direction. Second, accept that a teenager is a peculiar species. They speak their own language, rarely smile, and have 57 ways to roll their eyes – each with it’s own meaning. We as parents are given very few opportunities to communicate with our pubescent children. Yes, that awful “C” word, communicate. Therefore, let’s take advantage of every opportunity made available to us. If we spent less time banning these books based on media hysteria and more time exploring them, we would see them as a goldmine for starting real conversations about the issues our teen faces every day. For example, use the mistake Sophie made with Chaz, in, What My Mother Doesn’t Know, to discuss internet safety. The risks that accompany on-line relationships, and how to make responsible decisions about whether or not meet these people Let Blair, from the Gossip Girl Series, be a catalyst for a real discussion about abstinence. I’m not referring to the lecture your mother called the “birds and bees”, but a real dialogue about the pressures of an intimate relationship. Teenagers connect with these characters, hence their popularity and position on the best seller’s list. Let’s stop labeling these books as smut and see the plethora of opportunities they offer parents to start an honest discourse about contemporary issues.
Now let’s be realistic. Parents don’t have time to sit down and read every book their teenager picks-up. Most parents have a hard enough time figuring out how to balance car pools, practices, games, recitals, and many more unnecessary extracurricular activities their child is involved. Fortunately, there are resources to help parents understand what their teenager is reading. Websites such as bookbuddies4parents.com and teenreads.com are two resources. Many more offer guides that can be used to start a book club. Explore the internet, and you will find many, many more. Unsure how to search the World Wide Web?
