Los Angeles, C (PRWEB) February 07, 2012

According to her recently published memoir, Mimi Alford had an 18 month affair with President John F Kennedy when she was a 19 years old virgin, while she was working as a White House intern. Though this revelation may come as a shock to those who thought the White House would be resilient to such clichés, it actually marks the beginning of an upward trend in American society. Today, such workplace affairs between a much more powerful Sugar Daddy, and a much younger Sugar Baby is already well entrenched in the American popular culture.

According to SeekingArrangement.com, the largest Sugar Daddy dating website in the United States, as many as 12% of its Sugar Daddy members have followed in President Kennedy’s footsteps by adding Sugar Babies onto their payroll. Earlier in 2009, the website named President Kennedy as the most famous Sugar Daddy for his relationship with American icon, Marilyn Monroe.

“We already know that President Kennedy was a married Sugar Daddy, and a charming playboy much like Hugh Hefner,” says Brandon Wade, Founder and CEO of SeekingArrangement.com. “However, if Mimi’s account is accurate, JFK’s relationship with her may have been considered sexual harassment at the workplace by today’s legal standards.”

On SeekingArrangement.com, approximately two in five Sugar Daddy members are in powerful employer positions, including numerous high-level to mid-level Fortune 1000 executives, politicians, entrepreneurs and small business owners.

In a recent survey conducted by the website, 63% of its Sugar Babies members polled say they would consider accepting a position to work for their Sugar Daddy. And the top three reasons Sugar Babies are attracted to such career-oriented Sugar arrangements: (1) Career opportunities with better salary and career advancement opportunities; (2) Benefits of Sugar Daddy mentorship and career advice; and (3) Mixing pleasure and work can be a lot more fun.

“Workplace Sugar relationships are a part of our popular culture, and its attraction has only increased during the past few years as our economy has tanked,” says Wade, who holds a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “When a Sugar Daddy hires a Sugar Baby to work for him, it is like hiring one’s wife or girlfriend. The absence of any unwanted or inappropriate sexual advances makes such Sugar arrangements a healthy and legal alternative to workplace sexual harassment.”

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Peer pressure refers to the influence exerted by a peer group in encouraging a person to change his or her attitudes, values, or behavior in order to conform to group norms. Social groups affected include membership groups, when the individual is “formally” a member (for example, political party, trade union), or a social clique. A person affected by peer pressure may or may not want to belong to these groups. They may also recognize dissociative groups with which they would not wish to associate, and thus they behave adversely concerning that group’s behaviors. In young people, youth peer pressure is considered as one of the most frequently referred to forms of peer pressure. It is particularly common because most youth spend large amounts of time in fixed groups (schools and subgroups within them) regardless of their opinion of those groups. In addition to this, they may lack the maturity to handle pressure from ‘friends’. Also, young people are more willing to behave negatively towards those who are not members of their own peer groups. However, youth peer pressure can also have positive effects. For example, if one is involved with a group of people that are ambitious and working to succeed, one might feel pressured to follow suit to avoid feeling excluded from the group. Sometimes the child is pressuring themselves. They feel like they need to be in this group to be “cool” or “in.” Therefore, the youth would be pressured into …

The reason why people choose a baby name is to ensure that their child grows up with their own identity. The choosing of a name can be both stressful and fun at the same time.

On one hand you want to ensure that your child has a name that is memorable, but on the other hand you want to ensure that your child is not ridiculed throughout their life for a very strange name. You also want to make sure you know the baby names meaning. You also want to choose a name that will make your parents and your family happy and at the same time pick a name that you actually like.

Sometimes the hardest part is finding a name that both the mother and the father can agree upon.

If you are choosing a baby boy name that will give you one list of options and if you are choosing a baby girl name that will be another list. Luckily there are unisex names that you can still use regardless of whether your newborn will be a boy or girl.

This is why so many people choose safe common names like Michael or Samantha.

As of late, the popular naming convention for children happens to be influenced by vampires based on the success of popular vampire movies. In 2009, the top names used for a baby boy was Jacob, while the top baby girl name was Isabella. This all stems from the popular teen vampire novel.

This calls into question, why do so many people choose similar names for their children? People do this for the simple fact that they feel safe because someone else has done it. The use of a popular name for your child will mean that they will not be ridiculed and they will be safe growing up by fitting in.

Baby name trends change all the time and during each decade the changes in popular names is drastic. Different naming trends and name will vary throughout different areas of the world. A popular name in Canada may not be the as popular as a name in the United Kingdom or Japan. So you not only have popularity of names to think about, you also have your physical location to think about as well.

Depending upon your geographical location, the name you choose should be appropriate for the country you plan to live in or your baby might have a less common name. Reflecting upon why people choose the names they do for their babies, you can come to see there are vast differences of preference between all people though out the world.

Many parents decide to recycle family names of great grandparents, aunts and uncles in their honor. Most importantly you should pick a name you like because your child will have the name for life.

Baby names meaning is the meaning behind baby boy names and baby girl names.

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 4, 2010

If it weren’t for a bit of fantasy, our lives would be mighty dull and TV producers know that better than most. So while ABC Family’s new show, “Huge”, about teenagers’ experience at “fat camp” is a hit, the founder of Camp Shane, the longest-running weight loss camp for teenagers in the country, wants to point out–especially to overweight teens–that poetic license has been liberally used: The real weight loss camp, Camp Shane, is nothing like Camp Victory portrayed in “Huge”.

“Nikki Blonsky is a very talented actress and her characterization as ‘Will’, the overweight heroine of the show, is an excellent look at a troubled teen, but the resemblance to the campers’ reality stops there,” points out David Ettenberg, Founder of Camp Shane, a weight loss camp that has been helping teens lose weight for 42 years.

“What struck me most is the lack of empathy the girls in the show have for each other,” says Ettenberg. “At Camp Shane, there is such camaraderie and everyone pulling for everyone else. The support the kids give each other is really heartfelt and makes the whole experience much more positive than what is depicted. No camper would try to humiliate another camper–these kids suffer enough humiliation in their daily lives. Here everyone is encouraging everyone else.”

As for the boot camp atmosphere portrayed by a super-fit, wild-eyed instructor in “Huge”, Ettenberg has this to say,”It’s true nobody spends their time sitting on their bunks at Camp Shane. Here is the place to try things–to learn to play tennis or go zip lining– and it’s a safe place to try new things. Nobody laughs at you and everybody makes every team. It’s not about brute exercise here or cruel competition, it’s about learning about sports and health and everyone is a winner.”

The same sense of unreality struck the Camp Shane founder when he saw the strand of spinach represented as food and the Will character posing as a “drug dealer” selling a hidden stash of junk food to other campers.

“Trays are full at Camp Shane and the only reason gum isn’t allowed is because with a crowd of kids all chewing it, it ends up on everyone’s shoes,” Ettenberg says. “But no one goes hungry. Teenagers are still growing. They need their energy and good nutrition provides that; it also gives us a chance to reeducate them about the food that goes into their body. We are about empowering kids to learn how to help themselves lose weight and live healthier lives.”

The first episode of “Huge” also depicted a bulimic girl being sent home. “That truly horrified us here at Camp Shane,” says Ettenberg. “While Camp Shane is not a medical facility and perhaps might not be the best place for teens with eating disorders, that is a young woman we would work with–along with our trained medical and psychological staff. We would also include her family and pull everyone together to get the young woman the treatment she needed. Punitive action–like sending her home because someone “snitched on her” about her problem– wouldn’t be what really happened. We are here to help.”

But, as in any good story, some elements rang true.

“The compassion shown by the Camp Director in the show is familiar to us,” says Ettenberg. “My wife and I and our head staff show how we really feel to our campers. We care about them and it shows. Our counselors, who are trained in ways to be kind, caring, and effective in helping these kids meet their goals, are also part of the reason kids come back summer after summer, and why we have so many requests from teenagers themselves who want to come to Camp Shane.”

And, of course, given the fact that Camp Shane is co-ed, Ettenberg recognized the summer love that blossomed in “Huge’s” first episode. “Teenage love has been happening as long as there have been teenagers,” says Ettenberg. “It can be both wonderful and heartbreaking for overweight teens, just like it is for every other teen. It is something we see every summer (and keep our eye on so it doesn’t get out of hand) and smile about. We don’t forget that we were that age once, too.”

All in all, Ettenberg and the staff at Camp Shane are happy that yet another spotlight has been shone on the problems faced by overweight teens and hope that “Huge,” for all it’s less-than-real elements, might point teens struggling with their weight watching at home, to a real “fat camp”–one like Camp Shane that is not about “fat” at all–but about learning how to have a healthy, happy life from adolescence on through a rich old age.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

About 90% of Americans eat more sodium than is recommended for a healthy diet. Most of the sodium we eat comes from processed foods and foods prepared in restaurants. Sodium is already part of processed foods and cannot be removed. However, manufacturers and restaurants can produce foods with less sodium. In addition, you can select lower sodium foods when possible and you can cook more foods yourself, to better control how much sodium you eat.

The latest Vital Signs report finds that 10 types of foods are responsible for more than 40 percent of people’s sodium intake. The most common sources are breads and rolls, luncheon meat such as deli ham or turkey, pizza, poultry, soups, cheeseburgers and other sandwiches, cheese, pasta dishes, meat dishes such as meat loaf, and snack foods such as potato chips, pretzels and popcorn. Some foods that are consumed several times a day, such as bread, add up to a lot of sodium even though each serving is not high in sodium.

Top Sources of Sodium in the Diet

1. Breads and rolls

2. Cold cuts and cured meats

3. Pizza

4. Poultry

5. Soups

6. Sandwiches

7. Cheese

8. Pasta dishes

9. Meat dishes

10. Snacks

“Too much sodium raises blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke,” said CDC Director Thomas R. Frieden, M.D., M.P.H. “These diseases kill more than 800,000 Americans each year and contribute an estimated $ 273 billion in health care costs.”

The report notes that the average person consumes about 3,300 milligrams of sodium per day, not including any salt added at the table, which is more than twice the recommended limit for about half of Americans and 6 of every 10 adults. The U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend limiting sodium intake to less than 2,300 milligrams per day. The recommendation is 1,500 milligrams per day for people aged 51 and older, and anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, and African Americans.

Key points in the Vital Signs Report:

Ten types of foods account for 44 percent of dietary sodium consumed each day.
65 percent of sodium comes from food sold in stores.
25 percent of sodium comes from meals purchased in restaurants.
Reducing the sodium content of the 10 leading sodium sources by 25 percent would lower total dietary sodium by more than 10 percent and could play a role in preventing up to an estimated 28,000 deaths per year.

Reducing daily sodium consumption is difficult since it is in so many of the foods we eat. People can lower their sodium intake by eating a diet rich in fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables without sauce, while limiting the amount of processed foods with added sodium. Individuals can also check grocery food labels and choose the products lowest in sodium. CDC supports recommendations for food manufacturers and restaurants to reduce the amount of sodium added to foods.

“We’re encouraged that some food manufacturers are already taking steps to reduce sodium,” said Dr. Frieden. “Kraft Foods has committed to an average 10 percent reduction of sodium in their products over a two year period, and dozens of companies have joined a national initiative to reduce sodium. The leading supplier of cheese for pizza, Leprino Foods, is actively working on providing customers and consumers with healthier options. We are confident that more manufacturers will do the same.”

Understanding sodium in foods can be confusing

Types of foods matter: More than 40% of sodium comes from the following 10 types of foods: Breads and rolls, cold cuts and cured meats such as deli or packaged ham, or turkey, pizza, fresh and processed poultry, soups, sandwiches such as cheeseburgers, cheese, pasta dishes, meat-mixed dishes such as meat loaf with tomato sauce, and snacks such as chips, pretzels, and popcorn.

Sources of foods matter: About 65% of sodium eaten comes from food bought at retail stores, so look for lower sodium choices. About 25% comes from restaurants and it can be hard for a person to tell how much sodium is in restaurant foods.

Brands of foods matter: Different brands of the same foods may have different sodium levels. For example, sodium in chicken noodle soup can vary by as much as 840 milligrams (mg) per serving.
