@RuniChannel1 to cuntylishus > it has to be viewed from a historical context… Back in the days of Independance the colonies of USA were tired of paying taxes 4 nothing. There was a big WAR and the “Boston Tea Party”, led by George Washington (a Republican), and USA Won its independance. And so we have the mighty US of A (Democrats arrived a little later in the fight for Human Rights) … Thus a “British Republican” would be a Conservative Brit who is for the independace from Monarchic Rule.

To all British Republicans: what’s your alternative? A direct elected figurehead president with no power? It would cost the same amount and would make you no more or less free. Accept that the Royals are an asset.

I’m half British and half american and i live in both countrys and this has to be one my top 3 favorite things about Britian it still shows its history and culture and to everyone who wants to abolish the monarchy they bring in an amazing amount of money and they are worth it just for the culture who cares if they cost money they are worth it

@JuanMacready The Royals don’t claim welfare; the Queen is Sovereign and has every right to be maintained off the exchequer of her Kingdom. The Monarch also pays taxes and costs the exchequer roughly 40-50 million pounds per year; welfare handouts to the unemployed, single mothers, immigrants etc. cost scores of billions; do the mathematics. The welfare state upholds loafers; the monarch is an exceptional asset to Great Britain.
