Dennis Skinner making a fool of himself as usual.
His total lack of respect for the house and it’s traditions and crass remarks are tiresome and irritating.
USA and England and their allies are responsible for the war in Irak and Afghanistan where more than 2 million people were killed. Those responsible have to be brought to justice before the court of human rights in The Hage for their war crimes and they should have to pay a fine of 3 billiards of Dollars to the Iraki government for the damage they did in this war.
@MegaSound15 It isn’t ment to be funny. The closing of the doors in Black Rod’s face is to represent Parliaments independance from the Crown. This is after King Charles I entered parliament intent on arresting certain members.
@Nosmos just a few of the Queen’s powers are: only the Queen can dissolve and recall parliament, she needs give royal assent to any bill going through parliament to make it an act. She appoints the PM after a general election etc. It is not the power the Queen has that is important but the power she prevents others from having

@rawdawg15 To explain Skinner’s joke: A few days prior they had to elect a speaker of the House of Commons. In order to get the process officially rolling, they must be ordered to start the election by either the Queen herself or a Royal Commission, usually the heads of the House of Lords. The phrase to summon the Commons for the electing of a speaker is rather cumbersome, and the fill-in Black Rod (the same guy who did his duty in this video) stumbled on the line.
*Sigh* I wish I had an accent like that.
I don’t understand what the Queen has to do with the running of the country, she makes no laws, doesn’t state her beliefs and travels about the world at our expense as if she were a prime minister. Very puzzling…

@MegaSound15 < Its a bit of a play (like in the Theatre/Theater), but reminds us “mortals” of “the higher cause” and history/politics aside, of the relevance of causality (Cause=Effect). the Chuckling is a primitive form of “Fear-Mongering”, just like Chimps we act Riddiculous when facing the unknown … good thing we don’t all suddenly drop our pants or all urinate on such occasions… that would be quite a sight in the Halls of Time. @rawdawg15 As part of the House of Commons asserting its independence from the Crown, when Black Rod summons the MPs to attend the House of Lords they make lots of noise and jokes about it to show their independence. It’s all quite light-hearted.
@cantoon911 Well for one she gives all the earnings from her private Crown Estates to the Government – which actually is more than she is given, so she makes a net contribution to the Government through income taxes and Crown Estate income. That’s one thing.
HM is the head of the Commonwealth – Head of State in 16 countries from the UK to Australia. As Head of State she is the one ‘valve’ that acts as a check on Parliament.
Finally she unites the nation. What more could you want?!
