The US, like most thriving nations throughout history, has proven to be a home for advanced thinking in all fields. If focusing on science alone, you could point out how much US effort went into the collision collider, which seems more impressive then inventing consumer products. Socrates, Spinoza, coffee pot inventor, Hawking, which one seems to be out of place?
