The whole point of calling themselves an orchestra and wearing formal wear is supposed to be a joke. They’re not trying to be posh, they’re a group of people playing whatever music they want on ukuleles.

@Frogass I don’t know what things are coming to if it’s not even possible to have a simple discussion about something. I was not trying to get you to like this performance, but just to understand what it was intended to be. If you still think its awful, the simple solution is to not watch it.

@athull08 Well you’ve just came across even more patronising. Saying something like “its important when watching many of their songs not to compare them to the original”….well if you do a cover, thats whats going to happen. Also, even if this song wasn’t a cover, it would still be a shit performance! It sounds awful and theres no getting away from that, no matter how ‘funny’ or ‘jovial’ it is intended to be.

@Frogass Yes that is his real singing voice. And nothing I said was intended to be patronising. The main point I was making was about not taking them too seriously. What I meant by that was, it’s important when watching many of their songs not to compare them to the original, and not to expect to hear a serious, straight-faced attempt at a cover, because that is rarely what they do. A more extreme example of that is their version of Wuthering Heights – sung by a man!

@athull08 Well i think most people would consider his voice as a comical style. If it is his real singing voice I withdraw my parody comment. As for them being good musicians, I dont doubt that, however the performance remains-in my opinion-fucking horrendous, and lacks the sincerity the original had.
And in future dont be so patronising.

@Frogass You’re the one totally missing the point!! Firstly, this is not a parody, because that word implies that they’re tyring to make fun of the original, which they’re not.
They’re really good musicians, but they’re as much about entertainment as anything else. Sometimes it’s important not to take them too seriously.

Fucking awful. You think because you wear a tux for performances and call yourself an orchestra that doing a parody of rock music is funny. Posh cunts, totally missing the point in a song not meant for them.
