A blog with direct relevance to the African American community is the report that for the past seven years a small venture firm that never got off the ground fought to get a court to listen to allegations that the Small Business Administration engaged in racial discrimination in denying a license to raise funds. The firm’s four partners – all of whom are African American – will have their day in court after negotiations with the agency. The other noteworthy blog last July 30 included the report that some of the hottest start-ups are now raising money without a lead investor which is a departure from the traditional practice of venture capital funding rounds led by a single investor who sets the terms and typically gains more control.
