The New School Year Has Arrived — Are You Prepared with More Than Just Books?

New York Giants Sports Bedding

Gilbert, AZ (Vocus) September 9, 2010

Back to school, or especially first time to school, can be a stressful time in the life of a child, a teenager, and even a college bound young adult.

Bedding, the proper bedding, promotes a good night of restful sleep. A proper night of sleep is essential for good health. You can help your kid achieve this, by making up his or her bed, with comfy cotton sheets that are found in the kids bedding section of SelectBedding.com. JoJo Design girls bedding sets are colorful and friendly, and can be expanded to create an entire room décor. Boys bedding sets can help create a sports theme room, a construction zone, a car racing event, or just a simple statement of boys bedding, with the color blue.

Bed sheets are really important, and 100% cotton sheets are not for everyone. Select Bedding offers bed sheets made of bamboo, flannel bed sheets for the cold climes, and bed sheets made of man- made materials and/or blends. But even the most comfortable bed sheets have a tough time overcoming the tossing and turning that is sure to take place on an uncomfortable mattress.

A new mattress sounds like a great solution, but those pillow top, spring dense mattresses are expensive. A mattress pad or mattress topper can make an incredible difference to the feel of an uncomfortable mattress. Combine new bed sheets with many new mattress pads, add a comforter or duvet, and a new hypoallergenic pillow, and you have just created a cocoon of comfort for your loved one.

A mattress protector is another good idea for your new kids bedding set. Accidents happen, whether biological or otherwise, and it’s better to be prepared, whether ever needed or not.

Sports bedding is for everyone! NFL bedding has no age limits. Neither does NCAA Bedding or NBA bedding. MLB bedding as a teen favorite, but there are plenty of dads with their MLB sheet set hiding under a fancy down duvet.

So give every student a head start to a healthy day with bedding sets, sheet sets, comforters, pillows, and more at www.selectbedding.com .

‘Celebrity Autobiography’ roasts bad star books (AP)

In this undated theater publicity image released by Celebrity Autobiography, actress Rachel Dratch holds a copy of Joan Lunden's book, 'Good Morning, I'm Joan Lunden,' during a performance of 'Celebrity Autobiography,' where excepts of celebrity autobiographies are read on stage. The show, staged once a month in London, Los Angeles and New York, is also currently on the road, with upcoming gigs and a variety of stars appearing in Charlotte, N.C., from Jan. 25-30; Cleveland from Feb. 3-6 and Atlanta on Feb. 19. (AP Photo/Celebrity Autobiography, Joan Marcus)AP – What’s more delicious than reading one of those bizarrely self-centered, poorly written autobiographies by a celebrity? The answer may be adding more stars: Get another celebrity to read it aloud.

Publisher of Bestselling Chicken Soup for the Soul Series Releases Next Generation of Books for Teens Introducing The Jon & Jayne Doe Series – the First Internet-Active Teen Series

Category : Teen Gossip

Deerfield Beach, Florida (PRWEB) January 23, 2008

In the tradition of their bestselling Chicken Soup for the Soul series, which continues to rein as the most popular non-fiction series among teens, HCI Books has launched the first Internet-Active Book Series. Targeting the next generation teen market The Jon & Jayne Doe Series also has the distinction of having its own theme song and video. The first title in the series available in February is Jon & Jayne’s Guide to Making Friends & “Getting” the Guy (or Girl).

What “Internet-Active” means is that the books and its website coexist as one unit — much like the web-based toys for young children. Games such as “the Drama” and “Quickies” offer passwords and keywords that activate certain features to the website. . Curiosity will drive our readers to the website, but these activities are ancillary to the overall message of the books. It is self-help in a package that teens can relate to.

Rather than dwell on the issues that every self-help book for teens takes on such as body image, self-esteem, dealing with parents, and other broad-stroke topics , The Jon and Jayne Doe series addresses the secondary topics — those situations that are affected by these larger issues, like “getting” the guy or the girl, making new friends, being invited to the cool party? These are the issues that really keep teens talking at their lockers (that is, when they’re not trying to crawl inside of one).

To reach teens where they live, and to ensure the authenticity of its content, The Jon & Jayne Doe Series was created with teens who approve the topics, content, lingo, situations. The teen panel (aka “the crew”) are a group of teenagers who took a real interest in the series concept when it was presented to them. They, as well as other kids in the Jon & Jayne network, play a very large role in shaping Jon and Jayne’s characters as well as in shaping the content and packaging of the books. Every word that comes out of Jon and Jayne’s mouth is approved by them.

Topping off the new Internet-Active series, www.jonandjayne.com includes message boards, quizzes, surveys, and contests and a place for kids to post their questions, ideas, stories, and comments. This input which will shape future issues in the series. The video can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xkvaAH6new.

For further information or a review copy of The Jon and Jayne Doe’s Guide to Making Friends & “Getting” the Guy or Girl, contact: Kim Weiss, HCI Books, (800) 851-9100 ext. 212

DriversEd.com Teams Up with Zest Books to Raise Teen Behind-the-Wheel Awareness

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) October 19, 2010

Online drivers education leader DriversEd.com and “In the Driver’s Seat” (Zest Books) author Erika Stalder are teaming up to reach teen drivers in support of National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW). Stalder will be providing monthly columns to DriversEd.com’s already robust resource material specifically relating to teen driving and safety.

This year, NTDSW’s “Ride Like A Friend. Drive Like You Care.” campaign promotes safe passenger behaviors such as reducing distractions (texting) and friends as passengers, and encourages teens to be as good a passenger as they are a friend. NTDSW runs from October 17th through the 23rd.

“Regrettably, distracted driving continues to be the number one factor contributing to car crashes among teens,” says Gary Tsifrin of DriversEd.com. “It’s our sincere desire to see all teens looking to become licensed drivers go through a structured, state-certified drivers ed program followed by professional in-car training. The more knowledgeable and experienced the new driver the better for everyone sharing America’s roads and highways.”

Stadler’s premiere column “Rules for Your Ride” discusses keeping teens and their friends safe and aware while they’re behind the wheel. Key takeaway: put the phone down. Keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. If teens need to send a text, they should look to their co-pilot do it for them, or wait until they’ve stopped their car.

“Our sole focus is driver safety education,” adds Tsifrin. “We’ve built our proprietary courses and products to help students become well-informed, safe, and confident drivers. To that end, working with Stalder and her direct connection to the teen demographic to raise awareness of teen driver safety is a natural fit for DriversEd.com.”

In addition to being DriversEd.com guest columnist, Stalder’s publisher Zest Books is providing autographed copies of her “In the Driver’s Seat” for the GO Everywhere Contest. The photo contest is open to teens thirteen and up. To enter teens submit a photo of themselves or of themselves in a car on the go telling us what “GO Everywhere” means to them. Other prizes include an iPad and cash cards. The contest runs now through December 31, 2010.

DriversEd.com is the industry leader in drivers education. Founded in 1997, DriversEd.com pioneered the online drivers education space and today is the largest and most visited drivers education site on Internet. DriversEd.com provides unparalleled, state-specific, DMV-licensed online courses, in-car training and traffic school. To date, DriversEd.com has helped over 2.1 million students become safer, more confident drivers.

Zest Books is an award-winning line of smart and edgy titles that focus on the colorful chaos of teen life. The books cover timely topics in creative ways by incorporating solid life advice, practical how-to instruction, and humorous commentary. Supported by parents, teachers, and teens themselves, Zest Books is a progressive leader in teen nonfiction.

National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW) is dedicated to raising awareness and seeking solutions to unnecessary teen deaths on the road. Established by Congress in 2007, NTDSW is held annually on the third week of October each year, its goal is to educate adults and teens, and get parents and school administrations involved to encourage and focus on teen driver safety throughout the year.
