(Reuters) – A London lawyer has credited actor Dustin Hoffman for saving his life when he suffered a heart attack while jogging in the city’s Hyde Park, becoming the latest celebrity in recent weeks to help rescue a person in crisis. Sam Dempster, 27, told Britain’s Sun newspaper on Tuesday that Hoffman came to his aid when he collapsed in the park 10 days ago, and called emergency services. “I have no memory of what happened. The paramedics told me I had been saved by Dustin Hoffman. It’s unbelievable,” Dempster was quoted as saying. …

Jenny Packham Joins Designers at Debenhams
(PRWEB) February 08, 2012
Today, Debenhams announced a new designer partnership with British designer, Jenny Packham.
‘No.1 Jenny Packham’ will join the Designers at Debenhams portfolio in April offering a glamorous new women’s, accessories and children’s collection designed exclusively for the department store.
The move is part of Debenhams’ ongoing strategy to further grow market share on occasionwear – a category it already leads – while continuing to make fabulous designer ranges accessible on the High Street.
Says Debenhams Group Trading Director, Suzanne Harlow: “Introducing ‘No. 1 Jenny Packham’ reinforces both our commitment to supporting British fashion and our position as market leaders on occasionwear.
“Jenny Packham brings something new and exciting to our offer and we are thrilled to have her outstanding talent on board.”
Says Jenny Packham: “As a young girl I was regularly abandoned in Debenhams Southampton whilst my parents disappeared to search for the latest Teasmade or some other ‘must have’ electrical appliance. During this time I lost myself in the rails of 70’s polyester and dreamt of a life in fashion.
“Therefore it is only natural that I have chosen Debenhams to launch my first High Street collection. My aim always is to design styles that create glamour and excitement whether it is for the red carpet or a teenage prom.
“My collaboration with Debenhams is a great opportunity for me to offer my signature style at an attainable price”.
Synonymous with a contemporary and glamorous approach to design, Jenny Packham is best known for her sumptuous bridal gowns and ready-to-wear collections.
No. 1 Jenny Packham captures Jenny’s signature style in a collection of 19 dresses offering options for bridesmaids, wedding guests and prom-goers alike. The dresses are a mixture of softness and structure in soft metallics, floral or intricate graphic prints and bold block colours.
Shoppers will be pleased to find the exquisite detail they would expect from Jenny Packham, with wrapping, pleating and gentle draping of fabrics, in a variety of styles from floor-sweeping maxis to organza prom dresses. Prices range from £85 to £160.
A range of beautiful accessories including bags, jewellery, shoes and occasion headwear will perfectly compliment the dresses, with prices ranging from £18 to £100.
The collaboration also sees Jenny’s first foray into childrenswear design, as the women’s collection is complemented by a capsule bridesmaid offer.
The bridesmaid and flower girl dresses take Jenny’s signature elegance and attention to detail, to create charming pieces for children, featuring georgette, lace and intricate embellishment to add sparkle. Prices start from £48.
In store ‘No. 1 Jenny Packham’ will cover approximately 8,300sq ft of space across 72 stores for launch, and will expand to a further 56 later in the year.
The first eight dresses in the women’s collection will be available in stores and online in April, with the remainder rolling out through the summer.

Helping Americaâs Youth (HAY), an initiative designed to examine solutions for the crises facing American youths, teams up with parent-teen coach and expert Barbara McRae at a regional White House conference in Denver. Barbaraâs expertise in parent-teen relationships makes her a valuable addition to a roster of educators, researchers, and community leaders joining with the First Lady.
The dangers of being uninformed about how to successfully parent teenagers are great. Often unsuspecting parents make the mistake of thinking that they are immune to teen problems that are becoming all too common. As an expert panelist, Barbara outlines her Essential Parenting Blueprintsâ¢, encouraging parents to stay connected to preteens and teenagers within the family in order to help teens grow into well-adjusted adults.
Teen Frontierâs founder, Barbara McRae, MCC, believes, âWith the possible exception of the âterrible twos,â no age gets as much bad press as the teen years. Underneath the disagreements about everything from what to eat to what to do in their spare time, it is possible for parents and teens to have healthy, loving relationships.â
The HAY initiative believes in the urgency of helping young people across the country and is based on the belief that children have a greater chance to succeed, and are less likely to engage in risky behaviors, if they are connected to their family, school, and community. Bringing together various community leaders, educators, parents, and researchers to discuss the challenges facing young people, the forum focuses on families, schools, and communities as a means of change and growth.

Cross Gates Club, a comprehensive fitness center located in Slidell, a suburb of New Orleans, has provided an area teenager in need with a six-month scholarship to its all-fitness Pontchartrain location.
Another six-month membership has been pledged by childhood obesity advocate group, LouieÂÂs Kids, on the condition that the teen makes a significant change in her weight during the first six months.
LouieÂÂs Kids, founded by Louis Yuhasz, provides overweight and obese children and teenagers scholarships to attend weight loss and behavior modification camp. The New Orleans teenÂÂs application was one of the dozens Yuhasz receives every year from overweight and obese teens, desperate for help.
Financially, the organization can only distribute so many scholarships a year. For those children who are not selected, Yuhasz works to find other ways to make a healthy difference in their lives.
The New Orleans teen expressed a desire to join a gym, so Yuhasz set out to find her one. He contacted Cross Gates Club and gave them her story, sending Pontchartrain managers Joey Sanders and Dion Grossnickle some background information on LouieÂÂs Kids as well as a copy of the teenÂÂs application letter, which, as Sanders said, was all it took to bring them on board in helping this teen.
ÂÂCross Gates is always trying to get out the message of health and fitness,ÂÂ said Sanders. ÂÂWe are a community-based organization and when we have the opportunity to help someone in the area, we are happy to.ÂÂ
The six month fitness scholarship includes enrollment in Cross GatesÂÂ ÂÂCommit to FitÂÂ program. The teen will meet with a certified trainer three times over the course of 12 weeks. First to evaluate her current weight and health and determine a plan for her, then to familiarize her with the actual workout equipment, and finally to asses her progress and determine whether or not the program is working for her.
ÂÂItÂÂs awful having to turn any child down for a scholarship, but itÂÂs great to be able to provide another way to get these kids off to a good start in changing their lifestyles,ÂÂ said Yuhasz. ÂÂThis amazing girl in New Orleans is anxious for a change and the people at Cross Gates Club totally stepped up to the plate.ÂÂ
Yuhasz founded LouieÂÂs Kids in honor of his father ÂÂBig Louie,ÂÂ who weighed nearly 550 pounds at the time of his death in 2001. The number of scholarships available each year depends on the private donations and monies generated through fundraisers. This year, Yuhasz expects to send eight children to camp on scholarships.
It has been estimated that this generation of children will be the first to have a lower life expectancy than their parents due to complications of obesity. LouieÂÂs Kids aims to reverse this trend by helping overweight and obese children make healthy changes in time to impact their futures. To learn more about LouieÂÂs Kids, make a donation, or download an application, visit www.louieskids.org.
