For over 15 years, Community Partnership has been developing high quality, innovative, hard-hitting, affordable prevention materials for use in the southwest region of Missouri. However, they are now making drug, alcohol and gang prevention materials available online, regardless of geographic region, to anyone looking to improve their community and help build resilient teens.
In response to youth, parent and community focus groups, Community Partnership (http://www.cafeprevention.com) has discovered that most products available do not really capture the audience and have the desired effect. So, with youth, parent and community input, they have designed their own drug and alcohol abuse education and prevention materials. As a result of Community Partnership’s efforts, they have had a substantial impact on the community by decreasing tolerance for underage drinking and drug involvement.
In Community Partnership’s quest to create effective drug and alcohol prevention materials, they discovered that most brochures simply contain too much information and people simply don’t read them. In response, they designed large postcards and rack cards that are engaging and strike a nerve with the target audience, whether it be youth or parents.
Another crucial factor in Community Partnership’s success is that they discovered that most prevention materials are targeted to youth, yet evidence indicates that parents play a key role in preventing underage drinking and illegal substance abuse. So, they designed hard-hitting materials targeting parents, with parents’ input to augment the materials created for youth.
Creating eye-catching alcohol and drug abuse prevention resource materials that are aimed at targeting parents, who have a strong influence on youth, has been highly beneficial. The result of Community Partnership’s resources for drug and alcohol abuse education and prevention has lead to a dramatic decrease in the tolerance for underage drinking as well as the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.
Community Partnership is an online source for drug abuse education/prevention, youth violence education, and alcohol abuse prevention. To view and order materials on underage drinking, illegal drugs, as well as gang and youth violence prevention, please visit http://www.cafeprevention.com.

Even before an adolescent starts experiencing depression or suicidal ideation, give them the tools they need to understand what is occurring, and influence them in a way that will leave a lasting impression if they do consider suicide as an option. An impression that will tell them not to act on those thoughts or feelings, but that help is available and suicide is permanent answer to a temporary problem. The program, “Together We Will Find a Way or Make One” does just this. This program is a multi media interactive PowerPoint that educates on youth/young adults on depression and suicide prevention. It is developed to educate youth, college students, and the educators, counselors, and many other professionals that work with our youth and young adults. It’s content involves the prevalence and reason for concern, warning signs, risk factors for suicide, specifically what to say, how to intervene and why NOT to choose suicide. The content is powerful; including 45 slides, music, video clips, suicide survivor’s stories, and also the devastating effects choosing suicide has on family and friends. It provides hope for those struggling, influencing them to seek help before they act and assists those around them to notice signs and intervene. In these ways, we have the potential to reduce the number of youth suicides. Included is a detailed discussion guide. Additionally included is a complete program campaign to institute in you school, agency or building. It offers beautifully designed graphics combined with powerful messages. The packages include posters (5 different designs), magnets, and wallet cards that are personalized to list your resources–where to go for help. They are designed to encourage those feeling depressed or suicidal to seek help, and those who notice the warning signs to reach out.
