There are so many ways to deal with a cold or the flu once you have become afflicted with it. Even though you won’t find any cures, you can make yourself feel better. Of course, it is better to prevent a cold or the flu from taking hold in the first place. Remaining healthy the whole year, and especially during the flu and cold season, is a matter of taking measures for prevention. Here are some of the things that you can do to help yourself stay healthy and not get sick.
The Kleenex you use to blow your nose should be thrown away as soon as possible. A common cold continues to be transmitted because tissue paper is not disposed of. A Kleenex, that was used by one person who placed it on a table, is picked up and disposed of by another person, but not before a book laying on the table is removed by another person. This is how germs can be spread around to various people, quite easily. You need to have a liner in your trash can, where you can, immediately after you use your tissues, throw them away. Walk your tissue to the garbage can and drop it in, if you are not too sick to do so. Even if you aren’t showing the symptoms of being ill. you can still spread germs.
Start a daily exercise program. To not get a cold, there are people who want to isolate themselves from the world, when the cold and flu season begins. Maybe you want to avoid getting the flu or a cold, but the way to do that is not by spending time on the couch all bundled up. A health club is not needed to be active, and there are plenty of things you can do inside. If you are taken down by colds and infections, it could be because your body wasn’t strong enough, and not being active physically could have contributed to that. Exercising is important and at least fifteen minutes a day is sufficient.
You should use paper towels, often. Cloth towels and wash cloths are harbors for germs. Germs can stay alive for hours on these surfaces-even if you try to rinse them off or out. When you wash your hands, dry them with paper towels, and use them for cleaning. This way you can literally throw away any germs that might be trying to hang out and make you sick. Make sure, though, that you take out your trash a few times a day as well-letting the paper towels fester for days in the trash can isn’t exactly sanitary either.
Sometimes you just get sick, and when that happens, you will then need to do certain things to help the way you feel. The best thing, though, would be to keep yourself from getting sick in the first place. During the cold and flu season it is most likely that you will get sick, unless you put some of these tips into practice, and keep the flu bug away.
