Teens ask serious questions on adult sites and get a variety of answers that may be inappropriate for their age group. Example: suggestion for fasting diet that would be absolutely inappropriate for an unfinished growth process… Your thoughts?
Another example: A tweenie asks if she is fat. 6 out of 10 answers respond that yes she’s obese. If your child uses Yahoo, wouldn’t you want him/her respected as a young person and answered by people who actually would give appropriate information?
Dave! I’m copying the best (in my opinion) part of your answer here:
I personally believe that people should really behave better when it comes to others health! specially teenagers

Most parents can not bare the thought of their children having boyfriends or girlfriends and you can not entirely blame them. Teenage relationship are coming up very fast and some of them as not as innocent as we would like to believe. You ask a teenager if they have ever had sex and you will be surprised at the kind of answers you will get. There are children who have had sex at a very early age. As early as seven years. It is a no wonder that parents are scared by the idea of their teenage daughter or son having a relationship. They can not trust them enough to think that their love is genuine and innocent. With the increased rate of sexually transmitted diseases, more and more parents are worrying about their teenagers.
At this age most teenagers are getting to know who they are and discovering what they can do. Unfortunately, they also want to experiment with their bodies to see what they can do. As much as there are teenagers who love each other truly there are some who want to experiment on teenage relationship. This could be to satisfy the feeling they have started feeling that was not there before or simply because they read some material on love and sex and they want to know if it will really work. With the coming of computers and with it the Internet, it has become even more difficult for parents to control what their children see. Sometimes restricting them only pushes them to want to know why you do not want them to watch or read some material. There are many magazines that are sold in the streets and supermarkets that have very many articles on sex and love.
However parents should not worry so much about their teenage relationship. If you bring your child right and you are not shy about talking about matters that affect their sexuality, a teenager should be able to differentiate between what is right and wrong. Parents should get material about love and sex from the Internet or buy books that talk about love and sex. Encourage your children to read to know what to do in case they feel they would like to experiment with their bodies. You can also enroll them for sports to get their minds of relationships at an early age.
Encouraging your child to talk to you about teenage relationship and what disturbs them is also another way of preventing them from entering into relationships and doing things to please their mates. Whenever you talk to your teenage you get to know what they are thinking and what they want to do. Just listening to them will tell you if you can be able to trust him or her to do the right thing. With the right attitude and talking to them constantly you should be able to convince them not to do most of those things. But at the end of it all, you should let them make their own decisions and if they make a wrong choice, let them know you do not approve. Remember it is at this age that they become defiant, do not push them further away.

Should I Buy My Teen A Vehicle?
Category : TEEN NEWSPAPER
Well, that depends if you’re ready for your teen to become more independent and responsible. It also depends of course on your purse or wallet! Buying a vehicle for your teen is a big leap and presents lots of responsibility for your teen who is either at or approaching the age he or she can drive. You may want to consider some or all of these tips to help you in your decision on whether or not you should purchase a vehicle for your teen:
1) Consider having your teen work towards paying the down payment or entire purchase price for their vehicle. By doing this, your teen is able to learn responsibility and the value of money! Your teen will probably take good care of their vehicle if they are contributing or paying for the purchase of the vehicle.
2) You may want to purchase your teen an older used vehicle, probably a sedan that will be reliable for their needs. Your teen will probably be able to save money on insurance and fuel costs by purchasing an older vehicle. A sports car or 6-12 cylinder vehicle would not be an appropriate vehicle for your teen to have. They don’t need it! Remember, their just getting started. Usually the insurance costs for older vehicles are cheaper than newer and sport car type vehicles for your teen. So keep this in mind before you and your teen consider purchasing a vehicle.
3) If you decide to purchase or allow your teen to buy a vehicle, consider having your teen pay either a portion or all of the vehicle maintenance costs and insurance. This will assist your teen in continuing to learn responsibility and how to manage their finances. They’ve got to learn sometime, so why not now!
4) If you and your teen have come to a decision to purchase a vehicle for them to use, do your research on the vehicle that would be appropriate for your teen. If you have access to the internet, that’s a good place to start. If not, then review the newspaper vehicle classified section, vehicle trader magazines and any other resource you can find prior to purchasing the vehicle. You’ll want to find the best quality, price and reliability for the vehicle that is being purchased for your teen.
5) Maybe you’re not ready for your teen to have a vehicle yet. That’s okay too. However, you may want to have them work towards saving for the purchase of their vehicle for the future. You know they will eventually start driving, so why not start saving now! You will be able to have your teen learn the importance of saving and budgeting for items they would like to purchase in the future.
So, after you and your teen have discussed the prospective purchase of a vehicle for them, hopefully you’ll be armed with enough information to assist you in making a decision that will work for you and your teen!

Hey everybody. Right now I’m a (female) sophomore in high school in Omaha, NE. I’m trying to figure out where I want to go to college. I’m planning on working in the music industry when I graduate. I know of a Christian college called Evangel in Springfield, MO that offers a “Bachelor of Science in Music Industry”. I want a program like that, but I also think it would be good if there was a record label near my college so I could possibly work as a college representative. Do any of you know where there are any Christian colleges with a good music industry program, AND a record label nearby so I could possibly work there while I’m in college?

Adolescent rehab programs in the US have stated that drug and alcohol abuse among adolescents is a real problem that should be confronted. One of the prominent teen rehab in Pennsylvania states that parents have a huge responsibility to ensure that their kids are not being induced by drugs. They should not be harsh with their kids but at the same time, they shouldn’t be too lenient and maintain a watchful eye because this phase of life can be quite vulnerable and be the base of how he or she would be as an adult.
The teen drug abuse statistics are alarming to say the least; just goes to show where the future of this country is heading thanks to the callous attitude adopted by adults and the open culture existence perpetrated by the media and the Internet. In the US, there are about 3,500 teenagers who smoke every day. Nearly 27 percent of teenagers have confessed to abusing any one drug in the year 2004. The drug that is most abused in this age group is Marijuana. Teenagers who socialize and frequent parties are known to abuse the Club Drug ‘Ecstasy’. A survey of 10th graders four years back showed that 15 percent used Marijuana, 13 percent of them used inhalants and 6 percent used a club drug
Why do teenagers abuse drugs? According to the reports put forwarded by teen treatment centers that have examined this situation and treated many youngsters, peer pressure and lack of confidence are the biggest reasons. When a fellow teenager boasts about taking drugs and seducing a girl in his class, or when a group of drug-struck teenagers talk about the ‘highs ‘that they get by taking drugs, an impressionable teenager develops the interest in trying it out and that’s where the trouble starts brewing
Drugs are known to have dangerous effects that can harm a person’s physical and mental development. For one, it can harm the teen’s ability to absorb information and pay attention. Teenagers who have drugs are more likely to indulge in unprotected sex and even have physical relationships with a complete stranger. Teenagers who abuse drugs are usually the ones who are getting into this bad habit from a young age and if the person does not stop his or her addiction, it can be very difficult to get rid of this problem and even when treated, there are chances of relapse when quitting the drug addiction.
Anabolic steroids cause a lot of sexual problems in both the sexes. The reproductive organs are not developed properly, men tend to become impotent, and women suffer from hair loss and clitoral enlargement. Additionally, there are other repercussions like acne, skin diseases, baldness, stunted growth, stroke, liver diseases, cancer and risk of HIV/AIDS in both sexes, given the fact that some of the drugs can make a person promiscuous in nature
Substance abuse can affect the body systems and depending on whether the body is able to process the drug or not, there have been many instances of interrupted breathing from sedatives, permanent brain damage from inhalants and heart attacks from stimulants. Needless to say, all of these drugs can lead to death as well. Drugs according to teen rehab centers, may be taken by teens to mask their fears and anxieties but in retrospect, they actually increase these worries after the momentary ‘high’ is lost and due to increased depression, a person can actually commit suicide, kill someone or even become a homicide victim.
