Hamish & Andy’s Reministmas Special (2010 Christmas special). Uploaded by Rove McManus site – RoveOnline.com | http (unofficial) A BIT of monkey business by Hamish and Andy at Werribee Zoo left one family feeling cheated. They thought they were watching the real thing. The hit comedy duo donned gorilla suits for a TV sketch in which they played with a remote-controlled car and a golf club, the Herald Sun reported. Michal Pecek, who visited the zoo on Saturday with his children and friends, thought he was watching an authentic pair of jungle primates. It was only after arriving home that Mr Pecek zoomed in on his photos and discovered they were phonies. Inquiries from the Herald Sun unmasked the pair in gorilla suits as the much-loved Hamish and Andy. The cheeky stunt, filmed for an upcoming television special on Channel 10, left Mr Pecek unimpressed. “I go there to see animals, not actors,” he said. “Most people who were there on Saturday believe they are amazing, smart gorillas.” The Southbank father can’t bring himself to tell children Oliver and Michaela the gorillas weren’t real. He said he felt “deceived”. “I was taking pictures of the gorillas and said: ‘It’s amazing they are playing with

New Website Allows Women to ‘Reserve’ a Dress for Their Special Event

Renton, WA (PRWEB) March 1, 2009

My Event Dress© of Renton, WA is proud to announce the launch of their website http://www.myeventdress.com/. This is a forum for young women who want to “reserve” their special dress by letting others know that the dress is already taken. The truth is, most department stores carry the same popular dresses and the chance of a specific dress being sold to two or more young women going to the same prom is high.

This online community gives girls a fun way to see the dresses that will be worn yet they will have to wait for prom night to find out who is wearing what. So, the young women who take the lead will be the first to say “Sorry this dress is taken”.

For 2009 My Event Dress© will help students raise money for their school by giving back to each school 20% of the $ 5.00 registration fee for every new registration that post a dress for her High School prom. Visit the website and click on high school fund raiser for details. There are two reasons to join and spread the word about My Event Dress©:

1. reserve that special dress

2. raise money for their school

Company Information:

Launched in February 2009, My Event Dress© was originated by a woman and designed for all women that want to secure their own unique look and style.

Helping Your Teenager Beat Depression: A Problem-Solving Approach for Families (Special Needs Collection) Reviews

Helping Your Teenager Beat Depression: A Problem-Solving Approach for Families (Special Needs Collection)

The adolescent years can sometimes be trying, but are especially difficult for parents of a teenager with depression. Depression is a real and serious condition that can derail lives and put a child at risk. HELPING YOUR TEENAGER BEAT DEPRESSION offers parents a strategy that enables them to become active partners in the treatment of their child’s depression.

Chapters begin with an overview of teenage mood problems followed by an explanation of the authors’ unique treatment approach, known by the acronym, LEEAPP (LEAP for short). Based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)–a recognized and successful problem-solving strategy for changing distorted behaviors and thoughts–LEAP offers parents a plan to change a troublesome situation or negative pattern of interaction with their teen. Parents first identify what behavior (e.g. refusing to get out of bed) or attitude (e.g. unprovoked anger) they want to change, then create a LEAP plan to:

LABEL their own thoughts and emotions related to their teen’s behavior

EMPATHIZE with their teen’s perspective

EXPLORE ways to respond to this perspective

APPLY an alternative way to respond

PICK a follow-up time to evaluate the result

PLAN ahead for the next step

The LEAP approach can be used by parents to address minor mood problems and reduce the risk of relapse, and in conjunction with professional therapy for more serious depressive disorders. The commitment is minimal-–perhaps 10-20 minutes per week-–and the benefits can be substantial. Most families begin to see improvement in their child’s mood and interactions after employing the LEAP approach for 6 weeks.

Case studies throughout the book present a variety of situations and illustrate how to use this method to tackle mood problems. Exercises and checklists help parents monitor progress and be effective in improving their teen’s outlook.

13 Going On 30 (Special Edition)

ON HER 13TH BIRTHDAY, JENNA’S ONLY WISH IS TO GET OLDER & FAST. WHEN SHE WAKES UP THE NEXT MORNING, SHE’S 30 YEARS OLD, A SUCCESSFUL MAGAZINE EDITOR WITH A LIVE-IN BOYFRIEND! JENNATRACKS DOWN MATT(HER BEST FRIEND WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER) TO TRY & FIGURE OUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED.Jennifer Garner glows like a rising star in 13 Going on 30, a girly version of the Tom Hanks classic Big. Jenna (Garner, Alias, Daredevil), a frustrated teenage girl, just wants to skip past all those annoying adolescent years and arrive at a glamorous adulthood–and thanks to some inexplicable wishing dust, she does. But once she reorients herself to a life as a high-end magazine editor with a sports-star boyfriend, she discovers that in the 17 years she skipped she became a not-so-nice person, including casting aside her best friend Matt (played as an adult by Mark Ruffalo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). There’s no question that Jenna will rediscover her lost innocence, but Garner rises above the lack of suspense. 13 Going on 30 floats along, buoyed by her goofy sweetness. Her lovely looks are made accessible by her unfettered silliness; it’s a winning combination. –Bret Fetzer

Conejo Valley Friendship Circle Walk-A-Thon: Sunday, March 26; Supports Teen Volunteer Program That Helps Special Needs Children

Category : Teen

Agoura Hills, Calif. (PRWEB) March 22, 2006

The Conejo Valley Friendship Circle, a local nonprofit organization that pairs teenage volunteers with special needs children, will hold a Walk-A-Thon, Sunday, March 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Agoura High School track (28545 West Driver Avenue, Agoura Hills).

Through the Friendship Circle, teens develop friendships and share activities with kids with Down’s syndrome, autism, ADD and other emotional or physical challenges. Families of special needs children also receive support in the program. The money raised from the Walk-A-Thon will help underwrite the teens’ training as well as support other child-centered activities including special outings, fitness programs, camps, fairs and festivals.

The Conejo Valley Friendship Circle began in 2003. Currently 125 families throughout the Conejo and West San Fernando Valleys with special needs children participate and 250 teenagers are volunteers. “Many organizations focus on providing therapeutic care, “says Rochel Bryski, director of The Friendship Circle. ” We offer love, companionship, friendship and activities that are child-driven. Teens can reach children in ways that professionals, or even family members, cannot. The program also has a profound effect on the teenagers themselves by instilling within them the values of giving and gratitude.”

The first lap of the 5K walk will begin at 1:15 p.m. and it will be reserved for special needs kids and their families. “It’s a chance for these kids to be the center of attention in a very positive way,” says Bryski. Once the first lap is completed, kids can take part in face painting, a moon bounce and other kids-oriented activities. Barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers will be served throughout the event.

Robin Felton is the mother of nine-year-old Jonah who has autism. Jonah has participated in The Friendship Circle for two years. Once a week, teen volunteers Sarah Weisman and Jenny Silver, seniors at Oak Park High School, spend an hour with Jonah. “Sarah and Jenny are like Jonah’s big sisters,” says Felton. “They play games with him, sing songs, decorate cookies, go to the park; it’s whatever he wants to do. They give him unconditional love.” Felton’s two other children also have the opportunity join in. “It’s good for Jonah’s sibling to see Jonah treated as a friend, as just a normal kid.”

“Being with Jonah is pretty amazing,” says Jenny Silver. “We see what the power of friendship can do. After the third meeting, Jonah knew our names and felt completely comfortable with us.”

“Jonah has given me a new appreciation for life,” explains Sarah Weisman. “When he’s holding your hand, you know you may not be changing the world, but you’re having a positive effect on a child and his family.” Silver and Weisman will be participating in the Walk-A-Thon under the team name “Team Oak Park.”

The Friendship Circle is currently signing up walkers to participate in the Walk-A-Thon. Those who want to make a donation but cannot participate can go to www.friendshipwalk.org to pledge to a specific team or call 818-865-2233 to make a donation.
