Better Black TV Chairman P. Miller Takes Cameras On The Road And Into The Community For New Show, TRT: Teens Real Talk

Category : Teen Gossip

Teens Real Talk – Coming to BBTV

Los Angeles (PRWEB) September 22, 2008

Better Black Television (BBTV) has added a new program to the network’s growing roster. Teens Real Talk (TRT) is a show that gives teens an opportunity to express their ideas and feelings in order to help and advise both parents and teens on coming-of-age issues.

As a father and the only African American chairman of a television network, Percy Miller (formerly Master P) is committed to staying in touch with the community and its youth. He said, “This show is the home base where teens can freely connect with their peers, share their stories without fear of judgment, and collaborate with their families and community leaders to discuss resources and organize for social justice. It’s time for Barack Obama to be the first African American president and it’s time to empower the next generation of our nation’s teens to be more responsible.”

By discussing issues and topics in an open forum, the show aims to enable teens to affect the world in the most positive way through focusing their vision. Teens will be challenged to say “NO” to drugs, teenage pregnancy, crime, negative cycles, and violence, and “YES” to family values, education, financial literacy, wholesome teenage activities, and healthy relationships, lifestyles, and environments.

The show provides universal access to inform and equip teens through communication and information offered by special guests, teachers, doctors, volunteers, coaches, religious leaders, and influential role models. TRT is committed to the free expression of all people.

“The difference between this show and other teen shows is we’re taking this one on the road, to the schools, to the churches, to the communities, to the people to talk about real issues and find real solutions,” said Miller. “Education is what changed my life and I want to give teens across the country a wake-up call before it’s too late; not everybody gets a second chance and it’s easier to catch up now than to catch up later.

“We will also visit incarcerated teens in juvenile halls who are seeking answers and solutions. We have teamed up with major corporations and sponsors that share our vision of change and positivity. Our goal with this show is to preserve our future leaders.”

Teens Real Talk is the TV show that’s making a difference.

Also in production is the family-friendly original sitcom titled “Uncle Willy’s Family,” a show about a Vietnam veteran who comes to California from Louisiana in order to raise his brother’s grandchildren. The ‘country boy’ makes life entertaining, educational, funny, and spiritual.

It’s time for change, it’s time to empower our teens and families, and it’s time for Better Black TV.

Hull College Takes the Lead on Adult Learning at International Conference

(PRWeb UK) November 5, 2010

Hull College takes the lead on adult learning at international conference.

Hull College’s Chief Executive and Principal, Dr Elaine McMahon CBE has represented the UK at a prestigious international conference on community colleges and lifelong learning which will help to form the development of adult learning services in colleges across Canada.

The conference in Montreal invited Hull College to share its experience of lifelong learning, recognising the College’s important role within its community and the success of adult education programmes. The invitation followed a recommendation by NIACE (The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education) to suggest the name of a leading further education college to represent the UK and join colleges world-wide at the special conference.

After the conference Elaine said:

“We have worked really hard to develop Hull College into a first-class further education provider recognised locally, regionally and nationally for its leading role within the community. I am delighted that the College has received further international recognition and had the opportunity to share its expertise with this congress, which will not only influence the development of adult learning in Canada but will enable funding to be brought into the College.

“Lifelong learning is incredibly valuable both to individuals and businesses, and colleges play a key role by empowering adult learners to upskill, supporting the local economy. The College’s ethos is to ensure that adult learners have access to opportunities in college, the work-place and local community centres.”

Europe is currently leading the way when it comes to adult learning, but it is high on the agenda in North America at the moment as well. Apart from initiatives in Canada to reform adult learning services, President Obama has also made it a priority in the US, by promising investment of $ 12 billion in community colleges across the country.

Hull College is one of the most successful and largest providers of further education and higher education courses in the UK. It currently has more than 32,000 students across Hull, Goole and Harrogate, as part of the Hull College Group.
