Jean Scene

Category : Teen Fashion By Jasmine Thompson.

Stuck on the jean scene The worlds media is constantly buzzing about the latest trends to grace the catwalk . The question is, Are these “trends” new, fresh ideas? Or are they copy-cat versions of a greater era? Has real fashion lost its glitz and glamour? You tell me.

Fashion has followed a continuous cycle over the past few years. Elements of style from gone by years has often been incorporated into today’s clothes but without that sense of daring.
Style is unique, something very few of us can claim to be. Jeans and a nice top is as exciting as fashion gets these days. Would you rather be a dedicated follower of fashion or a trend setter?
To be a trend setter doesn’t mean you cant wear something other people have, just that you wear it differently. Fashion has always been categorised, and unfortunately we will nearly always fall under one or more of these groupings. You may be an Indie girl, a prep, hippie, punk, goth, rock chick etc. or you are simply a convenient dresser. Whatever the case may be, if you are happy with your appearance then your opinion is the only one that matters! This article is those of you who wish to put the fun back in fashion.

Bright clothes are eye catching, with a sense of boldness and drama, if this is you don’t be afraid to go for colourful clothing. Not only will it warm your face and brighten your eye colour, it also portray confidence. Preppy girls usually have an upper class attitude with expensive clothing, and often wear block colours, sometimes paired with a blazer. If you like this style then at least put your own spin on it, try to own it don’t just copy it!

The definition of an Indie girl, is a very care free person who is not a dedicated follower of fashion trends. They wear what they want whether that be something from a vintage store or the high street. They do not obsess with designer labels. Makeup and hair is never perfect and has that “lived-in” look to it. This definitely an easy style to own.

Punks follow typical trends, but they are certainly the very bold and brave of fashion.
With colourful hair, piercing, and always interesting hairstyles, it cant be denied that these are confident people. Goths again are well known for their extreme style of very dark makeup and dramatic clothing . Gothic fashion has an eerie tone to it, and is certainly eye-catching!
Finally we come to the rock chick, again this is a typical style, that is easy to make your own. Leathers, sweat pants, maybe some boots? Its an easy style to work, you can wear a lot of makeup or very little its really your call.

If you ever wanted to jazz up your makeup regime perhaps you should take inspiration the likes of 1950s-60s makeup. This is a simple and chic look, but with that all desired drama!
Perhaps you could add that boldness with a simple bright lipstick?
Fashion is easily moulded, and you can do that yourself without “the latest trends”.

South Africa Community Service Trip 2009 (part 4 of 8) TRAVEL FOR TEENS

Category : Teen

Parts 3 through to 7 are the real heart of this DVD, documenting the meaningful community service project at a village crèche on South Africas Eastern Cape (aka The Wild Coast). Transforming a yard that was overgrown by vegetation and dotted with trash, 5 days of solid work sees a jungle gym and swing set become established assets that will most probably last decades. Our local expert partners provided the blueprints, the resources, the training in safety and equipment usage, and supervised and assisted our work throughout the project. Also included in this footage are some spectacular beach shots taken from our nearby private bungalow-type accommodation (in a backpacker resort), footage from nearby Inkwenkwenzi private game park (including shots of rare white lions), and shots from an evening visit to Mama Tofus village.

Fox 35 – Parenting Oppositional Difficult Children or Teens: 4 “T’s” to Avoid

Category : Teen

Learn the 4 “T’s” to Avoid when Dealing with Oppositional Children or Teens: We can discuss “the No Nos with Oppositional students” 1. Triggers – Saying No before Validating the Childs Wants or Feelings 2. Threats – These are perceived by the Oppositional Child as a Challenge and the one with the most energy wins. 3. Temporary Insanity – Sentencing the child during intense emotion will escalate the child. 4. Tone – If you escalate your tone and lose your cool then the child feels they win emotionally because they made you join them in their misery. “If you say that one more time I am going to slap you” and as this mother was telling me the story, I immediately knew the outcome as she recalls the story over the weekend in a restaurant. Whenever a threat is made between a parent and Oppositional student it’s like issuing a challenge and the one with the most energy wins. The student wins in their own mind if they can provoke the parent to jump into the ring with them. In a period of temporary insanity, the student will hunker down and go for the jugular in an attempt to win emotionally and the parent will pull rank by adding more restrictions and consequences. An emotional win for the student is when they can get the parent to a point of temporary insanity. Parent: “Okay you have one week, do you want to go for two.” Student: “Fine I don’t care if you ground me for a month.” Parent: “You got it!” Now here is a great example of temporary insanity; there is a student grounded
