Sexy Costumes Take a Turn for the Scary

Belleville, NJ (PRWEB) October 05, 2011

Sexy costumes are taking a turn for the scary this Halloween, as Halloween enthusiasts seek out zombies, grim reapers and “The Scream” character, according to State Fair Halloween Superstore, a retailer specializing in costumes, accessories and decorations in Belleville, N.J.

“Zombie costumes are stomping into vampire territory, as shows like The Walking Dead become the latest ‘scary cool,’” said Michele Tartaglione, Managing Director of State Fair Halloween Superstore. “Maybe it’s the dire economy or the depressing weather, but consumers are definitely gravitating toward the macabre this year.”

According to Tartaglione, the difference between man-scary and woman-scary is that while men want gruesome, women often want a sexy version of a ghoul. “A sexy zombie, for instance, is all about the makeup. Take a Marilyn Monroe or a sexy nurse costume, add some dark circles – maybe even a prosthetic – and you’ve got a new twist on past years’ favorites.”

State Fair also says that Smurf costumes are good sellers, driven by the new movie, The Smurfs. Each year, popular movies tend to predict what the big Halloween costumes will be, added Tartaglione.

Other costume trends are holding steady: These include superheroes of all types and toy weapons for little boys, and fairy costumes for little girls; although little girls have been trending toward sweet gothic costumes such as Skeleton Sweetie or Monster High’s Claudeen Wolf, Draculaura and Frankie Stein. Young women, meanwhile, want sexy, regardless of costume choice – as evidenced by robust demand this year for corsets and stockings. Mothers of teenage girls can rest easy; teen costumes are toned down versions of the racier ones for grown women.

For more Halloween fun, the store is sponsoring State Scare on weekends throughout the month of October. State Scare is a 30-minute long interactive haunted experience, with 31 rooms of terror, intricately designed by a team of artists with major motion picture and TV special effects experience. State Scare runs Sept. 30, Oct. 1-2, 7-9, 13-16, 20-23, and 26-31 from 7 pm to Midnight.

State Fair Halloween Superstore and State Scare are located at 229 Main Street, Belleville. For information call (973) 450-1070. Visit http://www.statescare.com for information and coupons about the haunted attraction.

Teens Turn The White House Green

Category : Teen News

Greenthewhitehouse.com

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 9, 2009

In response to President Obama’s move to make the White House more environmentally friendly, DoSomething.org, one of the largest teen organizations in America, announced today they will join forces with GreentheWhiteHouse.com, an interactive site enabling users to upload suggested “green” features into virtual rooms in The White House. The goal is to inspire America’s youth to lead the charge in greening their own homes and help teach the rest of the world, including The First Family, how to green theirs.

“If young people can change their habits, the White House and the rest of the world can too,” said Nancy Lublin, CEO of DoSomething.org. “Teens are leading the nation’s green movement – we’re just providing the platform.”

Sloan Barnett, author of the New York Times bestseller “Green Goes With Everything: Simple Steps to a Healthier Life and a Cleaner Planet,” created GreentheWhiteHouse.com so everyone could have access to the symbol of American power and a voice in shaping its future. “We want to inspire Americans to get involved in a national collaboration that’s truly “by the people, for the people,” and home by home, reduce our impact on the planet in measurable ways,” said Barnett.

The Green the White House initiative, which launches today, gives teens ideas, inspiration and expertise on how to make simple green changes around their homes. GreentheWhiteHouse.com will offer teens and adults a virtual tour of the White House, allowing users to see how “the nation’s house” can be made more eco-friendly. Users will then be able to upload their own ideas and actions to DoSomething.org/WhiteHouse, which will include facts and stats about the environment and what America’s youth can do to make a difference in their communities.

Teens across the country will want to show America how they are making their own homes eco-friendly, too. Greenthewhitehouse.com’s renowned panel of America’s leading “green” experts will moderate a national dialogue about all their suggestions and all things green, from water, clean air, personal health, food, building and more, through informative blogs, content and interactive video. Users will be encouraged to upload their pictures and videos of how they made their homes more eco-friendly, and then will have the opportunity to submit ideas to the Obama’s on how they can continue to green their home.
